Euler Characteristic of Primitive T -hypersurfaces and Maximal Surfaces

چکیده
Viro method plays an important role in the study of topology of real algebraic hypersurfaces. The T -primitive hypersurfaces we study here appear as the result of Viro’s combinatorial patchworking when one starts with a primitive triangulation. We show that the Euler characteristic of the real part of such a hypersurface of even dimension is equal to the signature of its complex part. We use this result to prove the existence of maximal surfaces in some three-dimensional toric varieties, namely those corresponding to Nakajima polytopes. In fact, these results belong to the field of tropical geometry and we explain how they can be understood tropically.

$L_k$-biharmonic spacelike hypersurfaces in Minkowski $4$-space $mathbb{E}_1^4$
Biharmonic surfaces in Euclidean space $mathbb{E}^3$ are firstly studied from a differential geometric point of view by Bang-Yen Chen, who showed that the only biharmonic surfaces are minimal ones. A surface $x : M^2rightarrowmathbb{E}^{3}$ is called biharmonic if $Delta^2x=0$, where $Delta$ is the Laplace operator of $M^2$. We study the $L_k$-biharmonic spacelike hypersurfaces in the $4$-dimen...

We show that certain classes of K3 bered Calabi-Yau manifolds derive from orbifolds of global products of K3 surfaces and particular types of curves. This observation explains why the gauge groups of the heterotic duals are determined by the structure of a single K3 surface and provides the dual heterotic picture of conifold transitions between K3 brations. Abstracting our construction from the...

متن کاملGalois Module Structure of Galois Cohomology and Partial Euler-poincaré Characteristics
Let F be a field containing a primitive pth root of unity, and let U be an open normal subgroup of index p of the absolute Galois group GF of F . Using the Bloch-Kato Conjecture we determine the structure of the cohomology group H(U, Fp) as an Fp[GF /U ]-module for all n ∈ N. Previously this structure was known only for n = 1, and until recently the structure even of H(U, Fp) was determined onl...
